May Jesus, the Reason for the Season, be Praised!
Time really flies these days and Jesus has blessed us so much this year.
We got to spend Christmas 2006 and New Years 2007 celebrations in Costa Rica, enjoying my family and friends. It was Marcelle’s 1st Xmas and she had lots of fun meeting people and playing with her cousins. All my family was so excited to meet our little one.
Seth finished his 2nd year of Medical School and learned lots of things to be used on 3rd year. The USMLE Step 1 was the biggest thing happening in between the 2 years. It’s a hard test but the Lord was with him and he passed it! May the glory be to God! 3rd year arrived so fast and has been very amazing, with lots of different rotations and schedule changes. Now Seth has contact with patients, procedures to perform and recommendations for them. He was able to deliver several babies as the main doctor. That was so amazing for him, and tears even came to our eyes of how wonderful the miracle of a life is, and the happiness that it brings to the new parents. There are still many more experiences to come and different areas to cover, but we know that God is in control and will help and guide him to the specialty that will best suit the plans Jesus has for us in the future.
Marcelle turned 1year old!! We had a great time at her 1st birthday party, even though she was scared of the fire of her candle!! She is so big now and very smart. She talks a lot more, runs, helps mommy, and loves: books, the outdoors (especially collecting rocks!), to swim, play at the beach and to watch baby Einstein movies. She understands Spanish and English, but being that English is easier to pronounce the majority of her words are in English. We are still working on the manners, speech and the food as you all with experience know is not too easy. But it is really an amazing thing to be a parent. And we are hoping for more.
We had Marcela’s mom, uncle and aunt come to visit for Marcelle’s birthday. We got to go to Disneyland with them, which was Marcelle’s 1st time there. Even an acapella choir in California Adventure sang Happy Birthday just to her! We had lots of fun there and everywhere we went to visit with them - like the USS Midway airplane carrier in San Diego. Marcela’s mom was able to visit again in October. It was so much fun. We went to a clay class together, visited friends and places - like Mexico for lunch. We had an early Thanksgiving with her and Marcela’s cousins.
We celebrated our 7th year Anniversary. Wow! God has really worked in our hearts these past years and has made us closer and blessed our lives so much. Thank you all for your prayers.
We had lots of new cousins being born in both families: 1 in Costa Rica and 4 in the US.
We went to Mammoth Lakes for a great vacation. Thanks to the parents of Seth’s best friend Mike, Marcela’s dream came true: to stay in an RV! It was so exciting. Mammoth had a tiny bit of snow in September, just enough to experience really cold weather and for Marcelle to play in it for almost her 1st time.
We attend The Rock Church in San Diego. It’s a large church but we keep in touch with the home group from Coast Vineyard Church and CMF (Christian Medical Fellowship) from UCSD. Marcela is also a member of the Rock Moms group. She has been very excited to meet other moms, study the Bible together and have the kids play at the same time. It’s a great support.
One of the most recent surprises in our lives was the arrival of the letter for Marcela’s US citizenship. The appointment is December 6th for the interview, exam and swearing-in ceremony. We are so excited as we’ve been waiting for years. Please pray for her.

We hope that you all have been blessed in many different ways this past year and we pray that this Christmas and New Year 2008 will bring you all closer to the Lord Jesus and enable you to feel His presence, Love, Peace and Joy.

¡Que Jesús, la razón de la celebración, sea alabado!
El tiempo verdaderamente vuela estos últimos días y Jesús nos ha bendecido mucho este año.
Pasamos las celebraciones de Navidad 2006 y Año Nuevo 2007 en Costa Rica, disfrutando mi familia y amigos. Fue la 1era navidad de Marcelle y se divirtió mucho conociendo gente y jugando con sus primitos. Toda mi familia estaba tan emocionada de ver a nuestra pequeña.
Seth terminó su 2do año de Medicina y aprendió muchísimas cosas para usar en el 3er año y su examen USMLE. El USMLE fue lo más grande que sucedió entre los 2 años. Es un exámen díficil, pero el Señor estaba con él y pasó el éxamen! Toda la gloria sea dada a Dios! El 3er año llegó
muy rápido y ha sido maravilloso, diferentes rotaciones y cambios de horarios. Ahora tiene contacto con pacientes, procedimientos que hacer y recomendaciones para ellos. El pudo ser el doctor principal ayudando a mujeres a dar a luz. Eso fue tan maravilloso para él, y aún lagrimas se nos venían a los ojos de lo maravilloso que es el milagro de la vida, y la felicidad que trae a los nuevos padres. Habrá aún muchas más experiencias por venir y diferentes áreas por cubrir. Pero sabemos que Dios tiene todo bajo su control y le ayudará y guiará a la especialidad que será parte del plan que Jesus tiene para nosotros en el futuro.
Marcelle cumplió 1 añito!! Tuvimos un gran tiempo en su 1er fiestita de cumpleaños, apesar de que le tenía miedo al fuego en la candelita.! Ha crecido tanto y es muy inteligente. Habla mucho, corre, le ayuda a mamá, y ama: los libros, jugar afuera (especialmente recolectar piedritas!), nadar, jugar en la playa y ver películas. Entiende español e inglés, pero ya que el inglés es más fácil de pronunciar, la mayoría de sus palabras son en inglés. Seguimos trabajando con sus modales, sus palabras y la comida, y como todos ustedes con experiencia saben, no es tan fácil. Pero es algo maravilloso ser padres. Y esperamos tener más hijos.
Tuvimos a la mamá de Marcela, un tío y tía que vinieron a visitar por el cumpleaños de Marcelle. Fuimos a Disneylandia con ellos. También era la primera vez en que Marcelle iba ahí y nos divertimos muchísimo. Aún un coro acapella en el parque California Adventure le canto “feliz cumpleaños” solo a ella! Ella disfrutó muchísimo ahí y los otros lugares donde fuimos con ellos también - como el USS Midway cargador de aviones militares en San Diego. La mamá de Marcela pudo venir otra vez en octubre. Fue tan divertido, fuimos a una clase de arcilla juntas, visitamos amigos y otros lugares – como México para almorzar. Tuvimos una cena de Acción de Gracias con ella y los primos de Marcela.
Celebramos nuestro 7mo Aniversario de Bodas. Increíble!! Dios ha realmente trabajado en nuestros corazones estos años pasados y nos ha acercado y bendecido nuestras vidas. Gracias por todas sus oraciones.
Tuvimos muchas nuevas primitas que nacieron en las 2 familias: 1 en Costa Rica y 4 en los Estados Unidos.
Fuimos a Mammoth Lakes para una maravillosa vacación. Gracias a los padres de Mike, el mejor amigo de Seth, el sueño de Marcela se hizo realidad: quedarse en un carro casa! Fue tan emocionante. Mammoth tuvo un poquito de nieve en setiembre, suficiente para experimentar el frío y para que Marcelle jugara en ella por casi su 1era vez.
Asistimos a la Iglesia The Rock Church en San Diego. Es una iglesia grande, pero nos mantenemos conectados a los grupos familiares de Coast Vineyard y a CMF (UCSD grupo de estudiantes medicos cristianos). Marcela es parte del grupo de madres y niños de la iglesia The Rock. Ha estado muy emocionada al conocer más madres, estudiar la biblia juntas y dejar que los niños jueguen al mismo tiempo. Es un gran apoyo.
Una de las más recientes sorpresas fue la llegada de la carta de ciudadanía de US para Marcela. La cita es el 6 de diciembre para la entrevista, exámen y ceremonia de juramento. Estamos muy emocionados ya que lo esperábamos desde hace varios años. Favor orar por ella.

Esperamos que todos ustedes hayan sido bendecidos en muchas formas diferentes en el año que pasó y oramos que esta Navidad y Año Nuevo 2008 les acerque más al Señor Jesús y puedan llegar a sentir Su presencia, amor, paz y gozo.
